Project Description: The new bridge over the Clarence River at Harwood is about 20 metres east of the existing bridge, 1.5 kilometres long and four lanes wide. The new bridge will provide safer, smoother travel for motorists and eliminate the need for highway motorists to stop while the existing Harwood Bridge is raised for maritime users.
Scopes: ZAMR (formerly known as Deleg8) was engaged by Rizzani De Eccher to manage the complete process (from registration of expression of interest to submission of the tender) for designing the Clarence River Bridge at Harwood, plus associated works in the Harwood town centre. The scope of works in this project involved bid management, design management, project management and procurement.
To achieve this project, ZAMR/Deleg8 established a team consisting design, construction, planning and technical writing experts. A concept design was developed in Sydney and communicated to the structural designers in Italy for detailing.
In addition, ZAMR/Deleg8 developed two separate design methodologies: one using a composite steel/concrete structure, the other using traditional balanced cantilever methodology. ZAMR/Deleg8 also developed the content for the client workshops and presented to RMS on behalf of Rizzani De Eccher.
